Clinical Study of Piroxicam I.M. in Acute Musculoskeletal Disorders

Abstract

|
Piroxicam I.M. is a newly established non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic agent. The drug . . is available as parenteral formula, which is expected to be effective in relief of symptom and recovery of joint function in acute musculoskeletal disorders.
Thirty three patients with acute musculoskeletal disorders were treated with intramuscular adminis.ration of Piroxicam for 7 days, and also with adjust conservative treatment. Other thirty patients with same? disorders were treated only with conservative treatment plus saline I.M. injection. In comparison, the five assessment criteria such as spontaneous pain, pain on movement, degree of tenderness, and degree of joint motion restriction, and global efficacy evaluated by patients and physicians were superior in Piroxicam I.M. group to those in control group, which were statistically significant.
In conclusion, Piroxicam I.M. was effective in relief of symptoms and maintenance of joint function in acute musculoskeletal disorder.
